Mets put together long gratifying roadtrip

Yeah, long and gratifying, just like my… DON’T GO THERE!

The Mets won 6 out of 8 on the trip, including sweeping a 3 game series from the Brewers that I had previously labeled “difficult”. There aren’t too many bumps on the Mets’ September schedule, but these 3 against the Brewers, then the 4 the last week of the season against the Cubs concerned me. The Mets outplayed the Brewers for 3 games, the best one being today’s lopsided effort. The Mets are poised to surpass the Brewers in wins, which means they might not have to win their division to get into the playoffs, but that’s Willie talk, beat the Phils!

In addition, think about the 2 games they lost… Prototypical Met losses, which is tough, if there’s anything to worry about it’s that they are still losing games the way they lose games. I’d like to see them jump out to a big lead, hold it, and then tack on late… wait a sec, they did that today. I guess all is well that ends well, delusional Mets fan would say that, but they won a game today that they usually lose, so that’s a good sign. It’s all about turning a corner, that’s what this whole season is about.

Bring on the Phillies! At this point winning 1 game out of 3 would leave them in first place by the time it’s all said and done Sunday night.
