Mets to tread water today…

Figuratively and literally.

If today’s game didn’t have that ridiculous FOX start time, it might actually get played, but oh well.

It’s in the Mets’ best interest to not even start it if it isn’t going to finish. They can lose a game with the quickness, but if you were to ask them to go out there and win in 90 minutes and 5 innings, it isn’t happening.

Yesterday’s performance has made keeping track of his stats meaningless, so I am going to stop.

At this point it’s a matter of how long the Philies are going to let the Mets hang around within 5 games before they say the hell with it and run away.

In other news, Manny Acta couldn’t get his team to play, much to the chagrin of Ron Darling, and will probably lose his job this week.

What a game by the Mets tonight. It’s a shame people pay money to see it live.

I will be watching this weekend’s series on YES. I don’t want to have to hear Ron Darlings mouth, and neither should you.

When after the game they show an episode of Two and a Half Men and Life According to Jim, you know the Mets got their ass kicked.

Pathetic.

If I had gone to the game, I would’ve asked for a partial refund of my ticket. The game didn’t nearly provide 3 hours of entertainment.

Doubly pathetic…

There were 8 runs scored in this game.

Triply Pathetic…

Not only do the Mets hit into double plays in 4 straight innings, the last double play was a double play that will live in infamy as one of the most dubious plays you’ll ever see.

Another lost series

3 out of 4 from the Pirates, pathetic. The only game they didn’t lose was the game they didn’t play.

Falling futher behind in the standings, and falling closer to .500 again.

Let’s make it a 6 for 6 road trip in Washington!

When the season comes down to the last game, remember this road trip. The Mets found two teams as hapless as them, and they couldn’t beat them.

Smart move IMO. Schnider is more valuable to the team, and Santos has flat out outplayed Castro.

I wonder if the deal was inked before or after Ormir Santos singlehandedly won last night’s game? It’s one of those thing gasbag Mike Francesa will berate callers about on an upcoming show.

The Mets have won 5 out of 6 and have retaken first place, no thanks to a certain base missing player.

Right now the Mets are on a stretch where they could easily rip off a 10 out of 12, 15 out of 20 etc.

Santana was eh last night, but the numbers didn’t really take a hit…

…on this fucking team? This is the team of sore legs. I’d rather be a sore loser than have sore legs.

At least they won a game, and will end up with a respectable (in their terms) 4-6 road trip, just you watch.

Santana:

9 starts, 6-2, 1.50 ERA, 60 innings pitched, 75 strikeouts, 1.05 WHIP.

The WHIP is over 1, and the strikeout to innings pitched ratio is approaching 1 as well.

It hasn’t been a great May compared to April, so he’s going to need to pick up the statistical pace to keep up with the early expectations I had.

I don’t want to do any new projections yet, but the numbers are still looking good for a 220/250 season. The K/IP ratio is at 1.25, down from the earlier 1.4, which is still feasible if you are talking 220/250. He’d have to keep a 1.14 with the amount of innings he is projected to pitch this year.

Still poised to be a monster year. If this is his down month, it definitely will be. If he has months that are somewhere in between April and May the rest of the way, it’s a safe bet those numbers will hold.
